Pencarrow Racing

In 2008 Pencarrow Stud established its own dedicated training facility at Maungatautari, near Lake Karapiro. On land leased from esteemed New Zealand trainer, Laurie Laxon, who is now based in Singapore, the farm has a proud history of producing outstanding racehorses, including Pencarrow’s own champion, Ethereal, trained by Sheila Laxon to win the G1 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups double in 2001.

The property is now home to the Pencarrow Racing string, under the care of the newly licensed training partnership of Steven ‘Rambo’ Ramsay & Julia Ritchie.

Peter & Philip Vela also currently have horses in the stables of Wally Mitchell, John O'Shea, Lee Freedman, Peter Moody, Mick Price and Sheila Laxon in Australia; Bruce Wallace, Jason Bridgman, Graham Richardson, Kevin Myers, Lance Noble, Lisa Latta, Jan Hay, John Sargent, Graeme & Debbie Rogerson, Frank Ritchie and Donna Logan in New Zealand; and Mark Walker and Laurie Laxon in Singapore.
