Foals

Each year Pencarrow Stud spends a considerable amount of time researching yearling market trends and matching that research with the stallions standing in each individual year in both New Zealand and Australia. The other part of the equation is the essential matching of mares to each stallion, taking into account not only each year's market research, but also the physical and family breeding characteristics of each mare and stallion.

In this section are the foals born to Pencarrow Stud's mares during 2009.The stallion that each mare will subsequently visit is listed under 'Matings'.

Pins (AUS) - Grand Echezeaux (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 18 Nov 2009

Grand Echezeaux has delivered the final foal of the year, a bay colt by Pins. The dam of Darci Brahma will be represented by a Redoute's Choice colt in the Pencarrow premier draft for 2010. Gand Echezeaux will be bred to High Chapparral in 2009.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Vega Sicilia (NZ) by Rodrigo De Triano (USA) DOB. 12 Nov 2009

Vega Sicilia has foaled a bay colt by Darci Brahma. This mare is from a well established Pencarrow Family that includes multiple Group one winner Star Dancer. Vega Sicilia was group one placed herself and a choisir yearling colt from her sold to the Hong Kong jockey club last year. She will be bred to Sakhee's Secret in 2009.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Battocchi (NZ) by Success Express (USA) DOB. 10 Nov 2009

Battocchi has foaled a bay colt by Multiple Group one winner Darci Brahma. An outstanding racemare, Battocchi was the winner of the Matriach stakes at Flemington, now a group two event. She has been represented by impressive winner Guiseppina already this season. Battocchi returns to Darci Brahma in 2009.

Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) - Crystalline (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 9 Nov 2009

Crystalline has foaled an outstanding bay colt by Holy Roman Emperor. A daughter of Zabeel, Crystalline had her racing career cut short through injury. She has made a promising start to her breeding career and has a colt by Galileo in the Ready to Run sale. Crystalline will visit Sakhees Secret in 2009.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Paolino (NZ) by Housebuster (USA) DOB. 7 Nov 2009

Paolino has delivered a strong bay colt by Darci Brahma. Paolino was a group two winner herself and is already the dam of stakeswinning two year old Mirandola. She will be represented by an O'reilly colt in the Pencarrow draft for 2010. Paolino will return to Darci Brahma this season.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Mareva (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 6 Nov 2009

Mareva has delivered a very impressive bay filly by Darci Brahma. Mareva is a Zabeel half sister to outstanding filly Shikoba. Her first foal, a filly by Canny lad has been retained for the racing team. Mareva will be bred to Sakhees Secret in 2009.

Huluava has delivered her first foal a strong, bay filly by Casino Prince. Huluava showed exceptional promise in a short career. She will be bred to Darci Brahma in 2009

Paint me a dream has foaled an impressive bay colt by Darci Brahma. This Deputy minister mare is a half sister to Gr1 winner Honour and Glory. She has a full sister to this foal included in the Pencarrow stud draft for Karaka. Paint me a dream will return to Darci brahma this season.

Red Clubs (IRE) - Elbaz Belle (NZ) by Catbird (AUS) DOB. 1 Nov 2009

Elbaz Belle has produced her third foal, a bay colt by Red clubs. A winner at two, Elbaz Belle comes from a line of successive stakeswinners inluding Zino Belle , Christiania belle, and Finezza Belle. She will be bred to Darci Brahma in 2009.

Zabeel (NZ) - Affirmed Lane (USA) by Affirmed (USA) DOB. 28 Oct 2009

Affirmed Lane has foaled an impressive bay colt by champion sire Zabeel. Already the dam of J'dane, Affirmed lane will be represented by Affirmation in this seasons three year old races. Pencarrow Stud have retained her yearling filly by Darci Brahma. Affirmed lane will be bred back to Darci Brahma in 2009.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Virtus (NZ) by Tale Of The Cat (USA) DOB. 27 Oct 2009

Virtus has produced a strong bay filly by Darci Brahma. This is her third foal with the previous fillies being retained to race for Pencarrow Stud. Virtus is a half sister to Star Dancer from the family of Naturalisim and Crystal Palace. She will be bred to Postponed this season.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Inniskillen (NZ) by Centaine (AUS) DOB. 26 Oct 2009

Inniskillen foaled an outstanding dark brown colt on October 26th. Inniskillen is a centaine half sister to Insouciant and Copper Mountain. Granddam Our lafite won a Wakeful stakes and placed in the VRC Oaks. She founded a strong family for Pencarrow Stud with Smokin gun one to follow this season. Inniskillen will be bred back to Darci Brahma in 2009.

Pins (AUS) - Stanica (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 25 Oct 2009

Stanica has foaled an impressive bay colt by leading sire Pins. Stanica was a very accomplished racemare winning four times and running a close and unlucky second at group one level, before injury cutailed her promising career. She will be represented by a Redoute's Choice colt in the Pencarrow yearling draft for 2010. Stanica will be bred to Keeper this season.

No Excuse Needed (GB) - Kailey Princess (AUS) by Danehill (USA) DOB. 24 Oct 2009

Kailey Princess delivered a bay filly by No excuse needed on October 24th. Kailey princess is daughter of Danehill and from the family of Racing to Win. She has produced two stakes horses from earlier foals and her Galileo colt was sold to Rogerson Bloodstock for 150,000 in 2009.

Pins (AUS) - Perrine (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 24 Oct 2009

Perrine has delivered her third foal, a bay filly by Pins. Pencarrow Stud have retained her first filly by Red Ransom and will offer a colt by Pins in the yearling draft for 2010. Perrine returns to Pins this season.

Hameeda has delivered an impressive bay colt by Perfectly Ready. Hameeda is a winning daughter of Habibti and is closely related to La Fleur. She will be bred to Darci Brahma in 2009.

Redoute's Choice (AUS) - Our Echezeaux (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 18 Oct 2009

Our Echezeaux has produced a strong and imposing filly by Redoute's Choice. This is her fourth foal, with the stud having retained her two year old filly by Redoute's choice . A sister to Grand Echezeaux this mare will be bred to Stravinsky in 2009.

Stratum (AUS) - Vercors (NZ) by Catbird (AUS) DOB. 18 Oct 2009

Stakeswinning mare Vercors has delivered her first foal, a filly by Golden Slipper winner Stratum. A daughter of another slipper winner in catbird, Vercors will be bred to July cup winner Sakhee's Secret this season.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Pavan (NZ) by Centaine (AUS) DOB. 16 Oct 2009

Pavan has produced an athletic colt by Darci Brahma. Pavan was unlucky not win a classic when placed in both the New Zealand and Australasian Oaks. She is a daughter of South Australian oaks winner Marmalitre and hails from one of the foundation families of Pencarrow stud. She will be bred back to Darci Brahma in 2009.

Bartolomeo has foaled an impressive colt by Darci Brahma. A daughter of group two winner Paolino, Bartolomeo is also a half sister to stakeswinner Mirandola. She will be represented by a very smart commands colt in the Pencarrow yearling draft for 2010.

Red Ransom (USA) - Zygadene (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 14 Oct 2009

Zygadene has Produced a lovely filly by outstanding international sire Red Ransom. With good muscle and bone this filly is an excellent result for a young maiden mare. Zygadene is a sister to La Fleur and a Grandaughter of Habibti. Her foal is a sister in blood to Amaryllis with whom Pencarrow hopes to capture a black type race with this year. Zygadene will be bred to Postponed in 2009.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Iconic (NZ) by Centaine (AUS) DOB. 12 Oct 2009

Iconic has foaled an impressive bay filly by Darci Brahma. Her first foal a filly by Duelled will be retained for racing by the stud. From the family of insouciant, iconic has two current family members to follow this sping, Smoking gun and Courtney. The family has been prominent for Pencarrow stud for many years and that appears likely to continue.

Santagostino has delivered an outstanding filly by Darci Brahma. A group 2 winner herself, Santagostino is a half sister to Vapour Trail and exciting two year old Encosta Diablo. Her yearling filly by Darci Brahma will be retained to race by the stud.

Keeper (AUS) - Fritzy (USA) by Hermitige (USA) DOB. 9 Oct 2009

Fritzy has produced an imposing bay colt by leading sire Keeper. Fritzy will be represented by a strong Zabeel filly at the Karaka Sales series in 2009.

Fast n Famous (AUS) - Ruppertsberg (NZ) by Montjeu (IRE) DOB. 9 Oct 2009

Ruppertsberg foaled a lovely bay filly on October 9th. The daughter of Montjeu and guinneas winner Clear Rose has a two year old filly by Spartacus entering the Pencarrow Racing team this year. She is booked to Spartacus this season.

Postponed (USA) - Boito Belle (NZ) by Centaine (AUS) DOB. 8 Oct 2009

Boito Belle has produced her second foal, a strong bay colt by Postponed. Boito Belle is a half sister to Queensland Guinneas winner Winning Belle. Another half sister Our Ella Belle is showing abundant promise this season. Boito Belle will be bred to Darci Brahma in 2009.

O'Reilly (NZ) - Chimeara (AUS) by Danehill (USA) DOB. 7 Oct 2009

Chimeara has produced an outstanding colt by leading sire O'Reilly. The dam of Rosehill Guinneas winner De Beers will return to the same stallion this season. Stakesplaced in the Gold trail stakes Chimeara is a daughter of Tristalove and a member of the famed Eight Carat family.

Pertinacious has foaled a strong bay filly by Darci Brahma. This Montjeu mare is a daughter of NZB filly of the year Sarwatch and grandaughter of Riverina Charm. She will return to Darci Brahma this season.

Silver and Roses has produced her third foal, a bay colt by Darci Brahma. This mare is by Sadlers Wells from the celebrated family of Peeping fawn, Rags to Riches and Redoutes Choice. Silver and Roses will be represented by a Darci Brahma colt in the Pencarrow Draft for 2010. She will visit leading sire O'reilly this year.

Ornellaia has produced a strong bay colt by Fast n Famous. A daughter of Riverina Charm, this mare will be represented by a Danzero gelding in the 2009 Ready To Run sale. The stud has also retained a yearling Darci Brahma filly from her.

Filante Etoile has produced her second foal, a rangy filly by Darci Brahma. Filante Etoile was an outstanding racemare winning a stakes race at the Brisbane winter carnival and running second in the New Zealand Oaks. Her Encosta de lago yearling filly will be retained by the stud.

Concert party has foaled a bay colt by muptiple group one winner Draci Brahma. The biggest weight recorded this year at 73kg this colt comes from a family of big horses including Melbourne cup winner Empire Rose. Concert Party will return to Darci Brahma this season.

Sopra Tutto has produced her first foal, a chestnut colt by Choisir. Sopra Tutto is a daughter of Ethereal and has taken to her new role well having left a foal with size, bone and quality. She will be bred to proven stallion Volksraad in 2009.

Almaviva has produced her second foal a bay filly by leading stallion Pentire. Almaviva is a granddaughter of South Australian Oaks winner marmalitre, and daughter of New Zealand Oaks placegetter Pavan. She will visit Sir Percy this season in an attempt to produce a classic winner herself.

El Bulli has foaled a most impressive filly by leading sire Flying Spur. With good size and strength this is one of the stand out foals born this season. El Bulli was group 2 placed and is closely related to the great Might and Power. She visits Sakhee's Secret in 2009

Sarwatch has followed her daughter Promethean into the foaling paddock producing a lovely filly by O'reilly. Sarwatch has been prominently represented on the racetrack by Noble Manor this season. He has proven to be a high class and very consistent galloper in Singapore winning five times in the last year. Sarwatch will be bred to Stravinsky this season.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Star Charm (NZ) by Cape Cross (IRE) DOB. 15 Sep 2009

Star Charm completed a family trifecta when she produced her first foal a bay filly by Darci Brahma. Her dam and half sister had foaled earlier that same day. From an oustanding family Star Charm will go back to Darci Brahma this spring. A mating that results in the merging of two of Pencarrows most dominant families.

Postponed (USA) - Promethean (NZ) by Grand Lodge (USA) DOB. 15 Sep 2009

Promethean has foaled a strong bay filly by Postponed. The winner of three races Promethean decends from one of the foundation families of Pencarrow stud. Her dam Sarwatch was 'New zealand Bloodstock filly of the year' and granddam Riverina Charm was an exceptional racemare. Promethean has a Darci Brahma yearling filly that has been retained by the stud.

Darci Brahma (NZ) - Clear Rose (NZ) by Deputy Govenor (USA) DOB. 13 Sep 2009

Classic winner Clear Rose foaled an impressive bay filly by Darci Brahma. Her yearling filly also by Darci Brahma will be retained by the stud to race. The winner of the 1000 guinneas in Pencarrow colours Clear Rose is yet to leave a foal as accomplished as herself. The stud has high hopes however, that the two Darci Brahma siblings can emulate her group one record.

Marie Claire foaled an outstanding black colt this morning. A stakeswinner and group one placed, Marie Claire will be represented by a Darci Brahma colt in the Pencarrow yearling draft this year. She will return to Pentire in 2009.

O'Reilly (NZ) - Velvet and Satin (NZ) by Carniege (IRE) DOB. 9 Sep 2009

Velvet and Satin has delivered her second foal, a filly by champion sire O'reilly. Gr1 placed in the Thousand Guinneas, Velvet and Satin is a daughter of Pencarrow Matriarch Romanee Conti. Her first foal, a very smart colt by pins, will be offered in the Pencarrow Draft in 2010. Velvet and Satin returns to Pins this season.

Flying Spur (AUS) - Darcybee (NZ) by Fasliyev (USA) DOB. 7 Sep 2009

Stakes winning mare Darcybee produced her second foal, a colt by Flying Spur. Her first foal sold to Bruce Wallace last year and is currently showing considerable promise in training. Darcybee will be bred to Zabeel this season.

Commands (AUS) - Annie daly (IRE) by Spinning World (USA) DOB. 4 Sep 2009

Annie Daly has produced an impressive colt by leading sire Commands. From the immediate family of West Wind and Balanchine, Annie Daly has left a very promising performer in Tintern. He recently resumed in Melborne and looks set to recapture his best form this spring. Annie Daly will be bred to Darci Brahma this season.

Encosta De Lago (AUS) - Ethereal (NZ) by Rhythm (USA) DOB. 3 Sep 2009

Ethereal foaled an outstanding filly by champion sire Encosta De Lago. Sure to be retained to race in Pencarrow colours, this filly will have a lot to live up to. Dam Ethereal won 4 group one events including the Melbourne cup. Grandam Romanee conti claimed the Hong Kong cup. Grand echezeaux and Darci Brahma are other oustanding family members. Ethereal will be represented by a two year old Stravinsky filly in the 2009 racing Season.

Exceed and excel (AUS) - Uberalles (NZ) by Giant's Causeway (USA) DOB. 3 Sep 2009

Uberalles has produced her first foal, a lovely bay filly by international sire Exceed and Excel. A daughter of Ethereal, Uberalles was a winner and also placed at Group one and Group two level. Having made such a promising start to her broodmare career she will be bred to Stravinsky in 2009

Dance My Dance has produced an imposing bay filly by Coolmore Shuttle stallion Holy Roman Emperor. Her three year old filly, Posavina is a trial winner and about to resume training for the Pencarrow team. The stud has also retained her very promising two year old filly by Stravinsky. Dance My Dance will be bred to Darci Brahma in 2009.

Lucky Unicorn (AUS) - Cheerful (NZ) by Star Way (GB) DOB. 31 Aug 2009

Cheerful has produced a strong colt by Redoute's Choice stallion Lucky Unicorn. The winner of the Cuddle Stakes for trainer Shiela Laxon, Cheerful will be represented by a Fastnet Rock colt in the Pencarrow draft for karaka 2010.

Lucky Unicorn (AUS) - Felenic (NZ) by Cape Cross (IRE) DOB. 29 Aug 2009

Felenic has produced her first foal a colt by Lucky Unicorn. A particularly good effort for a maiden mare this foal weighed in at 57kg. A winner of the Warstep stakes, Felenic represents one the foundation families of Pencarrow stud. Marmalitre and Allez suez are among the oustanding performers for this family. Felenic looks set to extend the record of this branch when she returns to lucky unicorn this season

Zabeel (NZ) - Oh So Precious (IRE) by Sadlers Wells (USA) DOB. 24 Aug 2009

Oh So Precious foaled a bay colt by Zabeel. Bred on the renowned Zabeel / Sadlers wells cross this foal looks an ideal staying type. His full brother will be offered at the Karaka sales series in 2010. Oh So Precious will be bred to Alamosa this season.

Magical moment has foaled an impressive colt by the Pivotal stallion Excellent art. Her son, Fears nothing showed considerable promise last year and is already a winner this term. He will tackle group company in melbourne this spring. Magical moment will be bred to Sakhee's secret in 2009.

Reset (AUS) - Kwan (IRE) by Sadler's Wells (USA) DOB. 17 Aug 2009

Kwan has foaled a bay filly by Reset, this is her 5th foal. She will be bred to the Danehill stallion Keeper in 2009. Her 3 year old, Martial Art has shown promise at trials level and Pencarrow Stud will follow his career with interest this season.

Redoute's Choice (AUS) - Lafleur (NZ) by Zabeel (NZ) DOB. 17 Aug 2009

Lafleur has produced an outstanding filly by champion sire Redoute's Choice. Pencarrow Stud will race her 2 year old full sibling from the Mark Walker stable in 2009. Lafleur will be bred to O'Reilly this season.

High Chaparral (IRE) - Danehill Princess(NZ) by Danehill (USA) DOB. 31 Jul 2009

The first foal of the new season has arrived. Danehill Princess has delivered her second foal, a bay filly by successful international sire High Chaparral. Her first foal, a colt by Lohnro will be offered at the karaka sales series in 2010.
