Siracusa (NZ)

A real up-and-comer of the Pencarrow Racing team, Siracusa (NZ) (Sebring) has had 11 starts for four wins, a Group 2 second, and two third placings.

A stakes winner of the $50,000 Listed Karaka Classic (1600m) at Pukekohe in October 2020, most recently she flew home in the final 200m to run a bold second in the Group 2 Japan Trophy over 1600m. Previously she played a starring role at Matamata in a dominant five-length win in the $27,500 Colchester Engineering Ltd (1600m).

Trained by Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie at Maungatautari, Siracusa is bred and raced by Sir Peter Vela, and by the top-class Australian sire Sebring, while her unraced dam Corinthia (NZ) (O’Reilly) is a half-sister to the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) winner De Beers (NZ) (Quest For Fame).
