Kirin Belle Now a Group 2 Grand-Dam

The stocks of Pencarrow’s Kirin Belle (McGinty x Heidi Belle, by Copenhagen II) continue to rise with her daughters now entering stud and beginning to leave superior athletes on racecourses world-wide.

Kirin Belle, herself the dam of Group 2 winner Winning Belle (Zabeel) and this season’s Group 1 NZB 1000 Guineas placed Our Ella Belle (Encosta De Lago), is now a successful Group producing grand-dam after Fabiani (Model Man) claimed the Group 2 Kenilworth Green Point Stakes in South Africa this past weekend.

Fabiani is a daughter of Lady Maroof (Maroof), a Pencarrow-bred, who is a stakes-placed daughter of Kirin Belle.

Proving quite a success at stud, Lady Maroof produced two winners in the Republic on the very same day when her three-year-old son Silver Empire (Second Empire) broke through for a maiden victory over 1600m at Greyville.

Lady Maroof was purchased from Pencarrow Stud at the 2000 Premier Yearling Sale by SA-based trainer Gary Alexander for $55,000.

By Maroof, who of course sired South Africa’s top filly of her time Hoeberg (ex Petrava), also bred by Pencarrow, Lady Maroof is one of seven fillies from Kirin Belle’s ten foals thus far which suggests Fabiani won’t be the last top performer to carry the Pencarrow matron in their second generation.

Kirin Belle visits O’Reilly’s Group 1 winning first season sire Alamosa this season with the resulting foal likely to benefit from a host of pedigree updates between conception this season and future race-track debut.
