Madeleine Noblet Breaks Maiden Decisively

Richly bred Madeleine Noblet (No Excuse Needed x Romanee Conti) broke through for her maiden win on Saturday for her new trainer Sheila Laxon who presented half-sister Ethereal to win both the Group 1 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Having run second at her first start at Seymour over 1000m, Madeleine Noblet stepped up to 1200m at Echuca and blew her opposition away with five and a half lengths separating her and second placed Twin Warrior, and another six lengths back to Baghdad Gold in third.

Her win went to plan as it was hoped Madeleine Noblet would break her maiden before visiting a stallion in the Hunter Valley this spring.

As a daughter of Romanee Conti, Madeleine Noblet’s victory over 1200m was not unexpected given her dam placed in the Group 1 Telegraph (1200m) while her sire was a well-performed miler.

The win also gave Romanee Conti the exceptional feat of producing seven foals to race, all of whom have now won.

With plenty of upside to her page, half-sisters to Madeleine Noblet are due to foal to Encosta De Lago and O’Reilly this season.
