Miuccia Belle Clears Maiden in Style

Miuccia Belle has kicked off a big weekend of racing for Pencarrow Stud with an overdue win when she was presented fresh up to clear maiden status at Tauranga this afternoon.

Hot off the heels of a strong win by Deliciano (Darci Brahma) for the Ramsay, Ritchie and Bosson combination yesterday, Miuccia Belle (ex Christiania Belle) looked as though she had plenty more in store when winning well over 1300m.

The daughter of Pins was ridden for luck from a wide draw by in-form jockey Opie Bosson and he was at his brilliant best as he made his way between runners into the straight and had too much up his sleeve in the run to the line.

The now five-year-old who co-trainer Steven Ramsay explained has come along slowly due to trouble with her feet, looked as though she appreciated the slight easing in track conditions on the officially rated Dead 4 surface.

Interviewed after the race, Ramsay was thrilled with his team’s performance. “It was a gun ride by Opie, he is riding out of his skin. She’s done a good job fresh up today - this won’t be her last win.”

Revolutionary (Darci Brahma) also acquitted herself well, running third in the Maiden Fillies and Mares 1400m.

Trained by John Sargent she was positioned just in behind the pace by Lisa Allpress and hit the front half way down the straight. She was only swamped in the last fifty metres and a win doesn’t look far away if she comes through today’s race in good form.

Christiania Belle (Sackford) won the Group 2 Cambridge Jockey Club Dulcie Stakes and is out of the Group 2 QTC Grand Prix Stakes winner Finezza Belle (Sir Tristram). She has been a great broodmare to Pencarrow Stud, leaving 12 foals with 8 of those going on to win on the track.

The most successful of these was the Group 3 Hawke’s Bay Gold Trail Stakes winner Zino Belle (Success Express) who is already the dam of stakes placed Elbaz Belle (Catbird).

It is also the family of Kirin Belle (McGinty) who has left the Group 1 Australian Cup runner up Winning Belle (Zabeel) and in more recent times Group 3 Taranaki Cup winner Our Ella Belle (Encosta de Lago).

Pencarrow Stud will present a Keeper colt out of Kirin Belle in the 2013 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale draft and with the Sale fast approaching it certainly is an exciting time for all vendors.

Now part of the retired broodmare band at Pencarrow Stud, Christiania Belle will also be represented over the weekend by Brela Belle (Darci Brahma) at Ellerslie on Sunday and looks promising winning one of her three starts to date.
