Soyounique Goes Back-to-Back

Pencarrow part-owned Soyounique (Siyouni) has put together back-to-back victories in England within the space of less than two weeks.

Trained by legendary New Zealand Olympian Sir Mark Todd, the talented four-year-old cleared maiden grade with a bold performance at Wolverhampton on March 27, and he followed that up with an even more impressive victory in Wednesday’s attheraces.com Handicap (1400m) at Lingfield Park.

Ridden once again by David Probert, Soyounique jumped from a wide gate and took up a midfield position, then moved through his gears after rounding the home turn. He quickened strongly to hit the lead late in the race, stretching out to score by a length and a quarter.

Raced by Sir Peter Vela in partnership with Professor Wayne Mcllriath, Soyounique has now had two wins and a placing from 10 starts to date.

Soyounique is by high-quality stallion Siyouni out of Adventure Seeker (Bering), who won two races including the Listed Prix de Liancourt (2100m). She also finished second in the Group Three Prix Cleopatre (2100m) and fourth in the Grade One EP Taylor Stakes (2000m) in Canada.

Adventure Seeker is the dam of three winners from five to race, with Andrea Mantegna (Giant’s Causeway) a placegetter in the Group Three Hobart Cup (2400m) in Tasmania.

Adventure Seeker’s granddam is All Along (Targowice), who won five Group or Grade One races in France, Canada and the United States, including the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (2400m). She was Horse of the Year and Champion Turf Filly in the USA, and Champion Older Horse in Europe.
