Truesdale Makes it Six in a Week for Pencarrow

Pencarrow-bred and sold Truesdale (Zabeel x Anakela Bay, by Fairy King) won his second consecutive race in Queensland yesterday to give Pencarrow Stud its sixth winner in seven days.

The lightly raced six-year-old who is trained by Bryan Guy took his earnings to A$30,000 with his record now four wins from 12 starts, three of those coming from his past four starts.

Given his pedigree it is interesting to note that all of his wins have come between 1400m – 1600m.

Truesdale is from Anakela Bay, a half-sister to Group 2 winner and successful sire Blues Traveller (Bluebird) who died at a young age in New Zealand, and proved a major loss to the stallion ranks here.

Anakela Bay has done her best work with matings to Zabeel which have produced Truesdale and full-brother Graphical, who are currently both four-time winners.

In 2009 Anakela Bay’s Darci Brahma weanling filly (now a yearling) was sold at the Karaka National Weanling Sale for $40,000, while at Karaka in 2008 a Johar colt, now a three-year-old, was sold to Bruce Wallace for $80,000.

Truesdale may be a six-year-old but is lightly raced and has plenty of racing left in him, and victories for that matter, especially in his current form.
