Sean Woods-trained Sohna (Canny Lad x Zinarush) was in the winners' circle in a HK$590,000 event at the Hong Kong Jockey Club's race-meeting at Sha Tin on Tuesday night.

Sohna was bred by Peter and Philip Vela of Pencarrow Stud in partnership with All Black legend, Zinzan Brooke.

He was sold at the 2005 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales at Karaka from the Pencarrow Stud draft for $175,000.

Sohna's dam, Zinarush, is by Carnegie out of the outstanding racemare, Jennifer Rush, who in turn is the dam of Group 1 winner Emerald.

Sohna is the first foal of Zinarush who produced a colt foal by Pins last year.
