Pencarrow Stud was the recipient of a prestigious Group 1 award at the Waikato breeders annual dinner held in Hamilton on Friday night.

Collecting the award on behalf of Pencarrow Stud owners Peter and Philip Vela was Phil Murray, pictured above with Sir Patrick Hogan of Cambridge Stud who donated the award.

The award was earned due to the Group 1 winning performance during the season of New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner Insouciant.

Murray described Insouciant as a filly with fantastic ability and he praised the training deeds of Mark Walker to achieve the Group 1 winning effort.
