Noble Manor Aimed at Group 3
06 January 2010
Pencarrow-bred Noble Manor (Stravinsky x Sarwatch, by Jetball) proved he is on target for Singapore’s Group 3 Three Rings Trophy on 29 January with a two length win in the S$125,000 Class 1 Sprint (1200m) at Kranji on New Year’s Day.
Making all the running with 52kg on his back Noble Manor took his eighth victory from 30 starts in driving rain with his Champion trainer Laurie Laxon set to back the four-year-old up this Friday over 1400m, the same distance as his Group 3 target.
Laxon said Noble Manor was the tough knockabout sort who thrived on getting more mileage in his legs.
“Last year, he dumped Saimee (Jumaat) in trackwork and ran loose over six laps before going on to win his next race the same week,” recalled Laxon.
“It wasn’t in my plans to race him again this week but when I saw this 1400m Open race, I thought that would suit him nicely.
“Besides, he was up 8kg and he could use the extra race to trim up further.
“Anyway, I normally give him a trial before he races and as winning form is good form, I thought he was worth another crack.
“He won’t race again until the Three Rings Trophy, but I may trial him again. We’ll see.”
Noble Manor, who is raced by Peter and Philip Vela along with Mark Wyborn and Trevor Farmer, has now earned over $500,000 in stakes and will be represented by a half-brother in the Pencarrow draft at Karaka 2010.
Catalogued as Lot 146 in the Premier Sale, the colt is by leading Australasian sire Redoute’s Choice from New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Sarwatch.
A grand-son of Champion Australian 3YO Riverina Charm (Sir Tristram), Sarwatch’s sixth foal is described by Penacarrow Stud manager Leon Casey as, “well muscled and strong, this colt continues to mature into an impressive individual.”
