Two in a Row for Rock of Solitude

Trained by Neil Biggs, the four-year-old was too good for runner up Teaken (Kenvain x Tea Dance) winning by just over half-a-length. Rock of Solitude is a 1200 metre specialist with all of his three wins coming from the distance.

The son of Fastnet Rock was bought by Coolmore Australia for $550,000 in the 2008 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale and has since been acquired by current owners MR NM Biggs, Mr MA Biggs and Mr WJ Biggs.
Bred by Pencarrow Stud, the four-year-old gelding is out of Oh So Precious (Sadler’s Wells), a full-sister to the stakes winner Juliette.

Also to feature in Rock of Solitude’s pedigree is his third dam All Along (Targowise) who won at Group 1 level five times including the Prix de l'Arc deTriomphe and was the USA Horse of the Year.

Oh So Precious has been a good mare for the stud in the sales ring. A filly by Stravinsky was bought by Dominic Li’s IDL Racing Ltd at the 2009 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale for $260,000, and her Zabeel colt was bought by Rogerson Bloodstock for $300,000 at the 2010 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale. Her Zabeel yearling colt has been entered for Sale at Karaka in February and she currently has a Zabeel colt at foot and will be heading to Alamosa this season.

With Saturday’s performance, Rock of Solitude takes his winning tally to three from only six race day appearances and over A$14,500 in stakes.
