Easter Monday Win for Kandinsky Abstract

Part-owned by Pencarrow principal Sir Peter Vela, blue-blooded colt Kandinsky Abstract (Zoustar) collected the second win of his short career in Monday’s A$65,000 Kia Ora Prague Handicap (1200m) at Warwick Farm.

A smart winner on debut over the same distance at Canterbury last May, Kandinsky Abstract finished a close sixth in the Group Three San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill in his second career start. He also took on the Listed Poseidon Stakes (1100m) and Group Two Danehill Stakes (1100m) later in the spring of his three-year-old season.

Kandinsky Abstract stepped down in class for his resuming run in Monday’s Benchmark 72 sprint, and his obvious talent shone through. After settling in midfield for jockey James McDonald, Kandinsky Abstract rounded the home turn in fourth spot and wore down the leaders in the straight to score a narrow but authoritative win.

The Chris Waller-trained Kandinsky Abstract has now had six starts for two wins, earning A$88,900 in stakes. Sir Peter Vela shares ownership with a large syndicate of owners that includes Coolmore, Wynaus, Westerberg, Joe Poulin, Chris Waller Racing, Lynque, Woppitt Bloodstock, Peachester Lodge, Rockingham Thoroughbreds, Kerry and Jenny Pooley, Robert McClure and Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock.

One of 577 winners from 832 runners for quality Australian sire Zoustar, Kandinsky Abstract is out of the multiple Group-winning mare Solar Charged (Charge Forward). That makes him a full-brother to triple Group One winner Sunlight (Zoustar) and her Group Three-winning sister Sisstar (Zoustar).
