Quality Colts in Pencarrow’s Karaka 2026 Draft

Last season’s Group One winners Feroce (NZ) (Super Seth) and Maison Louis (NZ) (Super Seth) added their names to a long list of top-class colts and geldings carrying the Pencarrow Stud brand, and buyers will have exclusive access to another beautifully bred crop of colts during Karaka 2026.

Pencarrow will offer a total of 18 colts at New Zealand’s 100th National Yearling Sale, with 13 in Book 1 and five in Book 2.

Book 1

Appropriately, the draft gets underway with a colt by Super Seth – the sire of last season’s Pencarrow-bred Australian Guineas (1600m) hero Feroce and Queensland Derby (2400m) winner Maison Louis. Catalogued as Lot 4, the colt is a half-brother to four winners including Wellington Cup (3200m) winner Wolfgang (NZ) (Puccini) and the stakes-placed Naval Fleet (NZ) (Declaration Of War).

Lot 68 is by Satono Aladdin out of the outstanding Pencarrow homebred Rasa Lila (NZ) (Darci Brahma), who won seven races including the Group Two Travis Stakes (2000m) and Group Three Cuddle Stakes (1600m). She also placed in the Group One Windsor Park Plate (1600m) and Easter Handicap (1600m).

Lot 133, another colt by Super Seth, is a half-brother to the Group Three Spring Stakes (1600m) placegetter Kazalark (NZ) (Vadamos). The dam Skywards (NZ) (O’Reilly) was herself a winner and is a daughter of the NZB Filly of the Year Sarwatch (NZ) (Jetball).

The Savabeel theme continues into Lot 163, a colt by Proisir out of Savabeel’s high-class daughter Supera (NZ). New Zealand’s leading first-season stallion of 2024-25, Hello Youmzain, is the sire of Lot 426 – a colt out of Floating Heart (NZ) (Encosta De Lago). Herself a two-time winner on the track, Floating Heart is a daughter of Group Three winner Amaryllis (NZ) (Red Ransom).

The third Super Seth colt in the Pencarrow draft is Lot 522, a son of the Group Three Eulogy Stakes (1600m) winner and Group Two Royal Stakes (2000m) placegetter Lilikoi (NZ) (Charm Spirit). This colt is a half-brother to the exciting Passiflora (NZ) (Farnan), who has carried the Pencarrow colours to two wins and a placing from three starts so far.
