Pencarrow Quartet Gallop At Taupo

Four Pencarrow Stud owned-and-bred horses - including 2007/08 NZ Bloodstock Filly Of The Year Insouciant - headed to Taupo last Friday for a gallop.

Trainer Mark Walker said the reason for travelling the quartet and giving them a gallop at Taupo was to enhance their preparation for the new season.

Insouciant galloped solo and worked very strongly. "She worked a treat and has benefitted from the gallop on a better surface and the trip away from home," said Walker.

"I'm very happy with the way she (Insouciant) is coming up for this new campaign," said Walker.

Insouciant will now trial at Te Teko next Tuesday before racing at Taupo on August 13in a rating 90 1200m event. She then heads to Hastings on August 30 to contest the Group 1 $250,000 Mudgway Partsworld Stakes (1400m).

The Mudgway Stakes is the first leg of the prestigious Hawke's Bay Triple Crown series.

Insouciant will be ridden at Taupo and Hastings by Opie Bosson.

The other Pencarrow Stud-owned horses to trek to Taupo for a gallop were Abbey Way, Amaryllis (Red Ransom x Lafleur 2f) and Kudamm (Cape Cross x Shopping Spree 3f).
