Zealous Jumps to Victory
14 June 2010
Pencarrow Stud bred Zealous broke his maiden status with a very impressive win in the Hamilton RC Maiden Hurdle on Tuesday 8 June.
Clearing out to win by seven lengths, Zealous (Zabeel x Hameeda by Hector Protector) looks to have a natural talent for jumping having had three starts for a win, second and a fourth. Trained by jumping maestro Eric Musgrove, the four year old looks to have a bright jumping future ahead of him.
Purchased through the Karaka Premier Sale, Zealous was snapped up by Mr J Shannon from Victoria for $130,000.
Hameeda, who hails from the Eight Carat family, is currently in foal to Darci Brahma and has a Holy Roman Emperor yearling filly which will be retained by the stud.
Zealous is one of four Pencarrow-bred winners to date this month with Certain Grace (Centaine x Grace and Power by Brief Truce), Happy Drumming (Tiger Hill x Ajfan by Woodman) and Affirmation (Fastnet Rock x Affirmed Lane by Affirmed) also notching up victories.
