Stylish Maiden Win for Palm Springs (NZ)

Palm Springs (NZ) (Super Easy) moved out of maiden grade with an impressive performance in Thursday’s $10,000 Stable Books Baker Racing Maiden (1200m) at New Plymouth Raceway. Trained by John Bell, the Pencarrow filly had shown bright promise with wins in both of her trials, then finished third, fourth and fifth in her first three raceday appearances.
Palamedes (NZ) Too Tough at Avondale

Making her first start since late November, Pencarrow mare Palamedes (NZ) (Pierro) fought hard to win Friday’s $10,000 Race Images 1200 at Avondale. Ridden by Ashvin Goindasamy, the five-year-old jumped well from the inside gate and took the early lead, but was passed within the first 200 metres by Holsty (NZ) (Power).
Supera (NZ) Shows Class at Matamata

An unsuitable rain-affected track was no obstacle for quality Pencarrow mare Supera (NZ) (Savabeel) in Saturday’s inaugural running of the $40,000 Lisa Chittick Plate (1400m) at Matamata. A multiple Group 2 winner and Group 1 placegetter, Supera was the clear headline act in a quality six-horse field of fillies and mares and was sent out as the hot favourite.
Racing Hall of Fame Accolade for Sir Peter Vela

New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame yesterday announced their intention to induct Sir Peter Vela, principal of New Zealand Bloodstock and Pencarrow Stud, into the Racing Hall of Fame. “Inducting Sir Peter Vela into the Racing Hall of Fame is an honour,” commented Cherry Taylor, Racing Hall of Fame head.
Vichy (NZ) Completes Pencarrow Double

The New Year got off to the perfect start for the Pencarrow Racing team, with two winners across two New Zealand venues on Wednesday afternoon. Copiapino (NZ) (Medaglia d’Oro) got the day underway with a maiden victory at Hastings, then Vichy (NZ) (Cape Blanco) iced the cake with a strong win in the $50,000 Barfoot & Thompson (1600m) at Ellerslie.

Well-bred Pencarrow filly Aloft (NZ) (Atlante) continued a perfect start to her career in Friday’s $10,000 Epsom & Ascot With Wheels & George (1400m) at New Plymouth. The Rating 65 race was her second start and second win, having won a 1250-metre maiden race at Rotorua on debut on November 27.
